CHECKMATE
Gordon, a college political science professor, is a strong voice warning of the impending danger of global warming. His students convince him he should run for governor – he announces his candidacy and promises to lead the state towards a renewable energy based economy. Soon after he receives a visit from a quiet, unassuming fellow whose client is an oil executive offering to guarantee Gordon’s success in the election. All he asks is that Gordon reverse his position on global warming - of course, Gordon refuses. Too bad for Gordon – the client won’t leave it at that. This probably won’t end well…but for whom?
WITH PREJUDICE
John, a married black man in his 30s, is on a business trip in the deep south. He suddenly finds himself facing false charges of sexually assaulting Ella, a young white woman. It is her word against his, if he dares to testify - a distant prior may negate his ability to do so. The assistant prosecutor soon becomes suspicious of Ella's story. What should she do?
